Date: Wednesday 10th June
Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Venue: ASPI Auditorium, Ground Floor
40 Macquarie Street, Barton, ACT 2600
ASPI’s Women in Defence and Security Network (WDSN) is pleased to invite you to WDSN Speed Mentoring on 10 June, held in partnership with Corro.
One of the network's flagship events, speed mentoring brings together senior leaders with experience across defence, foreign affairs, intelligence and national security for an evening of mentoring of early-to-mid-career professionals. Our mentors have experience working in the diplomatic corps, media outlets, the military, public and private sector and civil society.
The event will begin with a brief introduction, followed by a structured mentoring session where mentees will rotate in small groups while meeting 5-6 mentors for frank conversations on career decisions and opportunities, lessons they have learned throughout their careers, and any expert advice they have received.
Following the formal mentoring session, mentors and mentees are invited to continue networking at a reception where light refreshments will be provided.
Speed mentoring provides an opportunity for early to mid-career professionals working, or interested, in national security, foreign affairs and defence to meet senior leaders working in these fields.
Note: Attendance at this event is in-person only, and there is no virtual component. This is a ticketed event, and each ticket purchase provides access to the mentoring session and the networking reception.
Background
ASPI proudly supports and promotes the professional growth and advancement of women’s careers and the WDSN seeks to build and enhance professional networks, and provide mentoring opportunities and platforms to share lessons learned.
Our goal is to help create and maintain a pipeline of diverse talent of people who work in, or have an interest in, sectors that are vital to Australia’s national interests.
At ASPI, we believe that the national security and foreign affairs policy community will be stronger if it is more diverse, and that the presence and seniority of women can be supported by dialogue and the sharing of experience through events such as this.
Please note: While the WDSN is focused on supporting and promoting women in the defence, foreign policy and security communities, we welcome any individuals interested in participating in this event.
