Ms Storey commenced as First Assistant Secretary, South and Central Asia Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in March 2024. She most recently served as Australia’s Minister and Deputy High Commissioner to India; preceding that, as Minister-Counsellor (Congressional Liaison) at Australia’s Embassy in Washington, D.C.

She has also worked in Canberra as Assistant Secretary, Parliamentary and Media Branch; Assistant Secretary in the global Consular Operations Branch; Adviser to former Foreign Minister the Hon. Julie Bishop; and Director of the Fiji Section.

Ms Storey has also been posted as Counsellor (Political-Economic), Australian Embassy, Bangkok (2010-13); First Secretary, Australian Mission to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg (2004-7) and Third (later Second) Secretary, Australian High Commission, Port Moresby (1998-2001). Ms Storey was a member of the inaugural Bougainville Truce Monitoring Group deployment (1997). Her previous roles in Canberra were in human resources, as Executive Officer to the DFAT Secretary, on the Indonesia desk, and on international and domestic legal matters.

Ms Storey has completed courses at Harvard Business School (Organizational Leadership) and Harvard Kennedy School (Leadership in Crises). She holds a Masters’ Degree in Arts (Foreign Affairs and Trade) from Monash University and Bachelors’ Degrees in Law (Hons.) and Arts (Hons.) from the University of Melbourne.
