The Hon Josh Wilson MP is the Federal Member for Fremantle and the Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy and Assistant Minister for Emergency Management in the Labor Albanese Government.

 The Assistant Minister’s portfolio responsibilities bring together climate mitigation, adaptation and disaster response and recovery in recognition of the Albanese government’s focus on building Australia’s climate resilience.

 Key parts of his work as Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy include energy efficiency and energy performance programs for households, businesses, and local government, and delivering Australia’s first National Climate Risk Assessment and National Adaptation Plan. As Assistant Minister for Emergency Management he is focused on tackling the escalating costs of insurance for Australians created by worsening climate-related natural disasters.  

 Before his July 2024 appointment as Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Josh was Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties, and a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security.

 From 2019 to 2022, he served as Shadow Assistant Minister for the Environment, leading policy development in the areas of waste and recycling, ocean protection, and national heritage.
