Mr. Amit A Shukla, a career diplomat of India, is Joint Secretary for Cyber Diplomacy and E-Governance in the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Under this charge he is responsible for inter-governmental negotiations on the governance of digital space, including AI, in bilateral and UN settings.

As part of the Cyber Diplomacy portfolio, he has been heading India’s bilateral discussions with select countries on cyber security, telecom security and artificial intelligence. He has also been heading the Indian delegation to the Open Ended Working Group at the UN, in addition to handling other UN processes in the field of cyber and digital affairs.

He has previously served at Indian Missions in Mauritius and Brazil. In the Ministry of External Affairs of India in New Delhi he has worked on desks related to Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

He has been associated extensively with implementation of India’s Neighbourhood First policy. His portfolios at the headquarters included trade, commerce, connectivity, development cooperation, border issues. In his assignments at Indian Missions, he has handled political desk, project implementation, trade & commerce desk, consular desk, protocol and administration matters, among others.
